MiniMed Paradigm Real-Time System

The MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time System is the world's first system to integrate an insulin pump with REAL-Time continuous glucose monitoring, taking diabetes management to a level unachievable with other insulin pumps.

Now you can free yourself from multiple daily injections AND:

  • Know your glucose levels around the clock
  • Discover the effects of your diet, exercise, and medication on your glucose levels
  • Help prevent low and high glucose levels

MiniMed Paradigm® REAL-Time System components

MiniMed Paradigm 522 or 722 Insulin Pump
Built on the MiniMed Paradigm family with all the features you expect from a ‘smart’ insulin pump, plus the capability to integrate with our continuous glucose monitoring components.

REAL-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring

When you use the optional REAL-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring Kit with your insulin pump, you will have access to REAL-Time glucose readings, safety alarms, and glucose trend data around the clock.

The kit contains:
  • A transmitter
  • SenSerter® device to make sensor insertion precise and comfortable
  • Transmitter adhesive patches (10 pieces)
  • IV3000 adhesive dressing (10 pieces)

REAL-Time continuous glucose monitoring gives you important benefits that you can't get with fingerstick measurements alone.

Here's how it works as part of the MiniMed Paradigm® REAL-Time Insulin Pump and Continuous Glucose Monitoring System:

Easy to Wear, Easy to Use

Part of the MiniMed Paradigm family of insulin pumps, the MiniMed Paradigm 522 or 722 insulin pump (A) is small so you can wear it almost anywhere – under your clothing in a leg pouch, thigh pouch, bra pouch, or on your belt like a mobile phone. It delivers insulin through a soft tube called a cannula (B) that sits under your skin for up to 3 days after being inserted in one virtually painless step. You can disconnect from the insulin pump easily and quickly for activities such as bathing, swimming or changing clothes.

Continuous glucose monitoring is made possible through a tiny sensor (C) you wear for up to three days at a time. Like the cannula, it is easily inserted using an automatic insertion device provided with the system. Sensor data is sent continuously to a transmitter* (D), a small lightweight device that attaches to your skin with a small, simple, adhesive patch. The sensor, transmitter and adhesive patch are all waterproof. The transmitter sends the data to the insulin pump through advanced radio frequency (RF) wireless technology.

REAL-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring Lets You Enjoy REAL Control with REAL Confidence

(A) REAL-Time Readings help you take action sooner to improve control of your glucose levels and reduce the risk of long-term health complications. The MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time System takes measurements continuously and displays updated glucose values every five minutes to help you take the right action at the right time to improve control of your diabetes. Fingerstick measurements using a standard blood glucose meter are still required before making therapy adjustments, and to calibrate the system.1-3

(B) REAL-Time Alarms are designed to warn you of low and high glucose levels that fingersticks and HbA1C testing may miss.4 You can preset alarms to sound or vibrate. You can even customise the setting to just the right sensitivity for you.

(C) REAL-Time Trend Arrows point up or down to clearly show you the direction and rate of change in your glucose. Because even brief fluctuations can increase your risk of long-term problems, this information helps you reduce the risk of long-term complications such as eye, nerve, heart, and kidney disease.5

(D) REAL-Time Trend Graphs show you the effect of meals, exercise, insulin, and medication on control of your glucose levels. Additionally, you can upload historical data from the insulin pump using Solution® Software, where you can generate longer-term charts, graphs, and tables for your records or to share with your health care providers.

Choose the Components You Need

The MiniMed Paradigm 522 or 722 insulin pump can be purchased and used on its own. The REAL-Time continuous glucose monitoring kit is sold separately or can be purchased as part of the Real-Time system to maximise the benefits.
