Benefits of the MiniMed Paradigm® REAL-Time System

Insulin pump therapy, with or without continuous glucose monitoring, gives you:

  • Freedom from multiple daily injections
  • Freedom to eat, sleep, and exercise when you want
  • Better glucose control with less risk of going low

REAL-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring delivers insights you just can't get through fingersticks alone.

The MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time System delivers the most advanced insulin pump therapy available. And with continuous glucose monitoring integrated into the system, you see the big picture of your glucose levels right now – anytime, anywhere in a way that you just can't accomplish through fingersticks alone.

See the REAL picture
Fingersticks show only part of the picture

Based on an individual taking 4 fingersticks per day, at the times shown. Continuous glucose monitoring shows high and low glucose levels that these fingersticks may miss.

Did you know that fingersticks alone may not even reveal up to 60 percent of lows – lows that the MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time System can reveal?  1, 2

Fingerstick measurements reveal a blood glucose value at a single moment – a ‘snapshot’ – in time. An HbA1C test, which measures blood glucose control over a two to three month period, reveals an average glucose value. Both can miss highs and lows in your blood glucose present at various times during the day that may lead to diabetes-related complications.3

Intervene Proactively

The MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time Insulin Pump and Continuous Glucose Monitoring System displays glucose readings, safety alarms, and 3 and 24-hour trend data that helps you proactively intervene to improve your glucose control, and reduce the severity and duration of high and low blood glucose levels. Additionally, you can analyse historical glucose patterns by uploading your glucose trend data to using Solution® Software. Over time, you may gain valuable understanding of the effects of meals, exercise, and medication on your glucose levels.

REAL-Time information is ideal for people trying to cope with the challenges of controlling high and low glucose levels, including people who are:

  • Prone to night time lows (nocturnal hypoglycaemia).4
  • Prone to post-meal highs (postprandial hyperglycaemia).5
  • Experiencing morning highs (dawn phenomenon).6, 7
  • Pregnant, or who are planning to get pregnant.3

With this information, your healthcare provider can customise your diabetes treatment and reduce your HbA1C levels.2, 4 And that reduces your risk of long-term health complications.3
